Caring for a Jack Russell Terrier is virtually a full time job at least while they are conscious. This little dog almost certainly has more liveliness than any other dog you can find. This electricity needs to be channeled in a positive direction, because if you ignore them or keep them confined, they can become damaging or even aggressive toward human beings.

An excellent way to channel this vitality is through coaching. Jack Russells are very smart and will understand rapidly. They will learn a lot on their own which might not be what you want, so work together with them as much as possible. They are a good household dog as there will be more people to help burn their energy.

Since the Jack Russell Terrier was bred as a fox hunting dog, it enjoys to play at hunting, which translates into running and playing. They especially want to be around children as they usually have as much energy as your pet terrier. Older kids will be able to educate it to do a number of tricks including finding things. This can entertain both the pet and your child for a long time. I’ve seen a Jack Russell Terrier shove a soccer ball around with its nose for hours on end patiently waiting for somebody to play with it.

Keep in mind that they do get bored very easy and will gnaw on things. One of the earliest things you should teach is which things they can chew on and which they can’t. Be sure to have plenty of chew toys for them to hunt and chew. One issue about a Jack Russell is if you can be extremely active with it everyday it will be more likely to sit or lie calmly when you want it to. They are very full of energy so be sure they do get a lot of exercise each day.

Because Jack Russell Terriers are such active dogs their education needs to include significant exercising. While you will need to do some relatively passive instruction, make sure to also include plenty of energy consuming exercise so as to release your puppy’s liveliness and to maintain its health.

If you get a Jack Russell puppy you need to set up a routine for it. The main thing to determine is where their food will be and when it will be there. Two times a day you should fill both the food and water bowls so your puppy will start feeling at ease, realizing its food and water will always be accessible.

Taking your pet outside at least 3 times a day is essential. This is not merely to let them do their business but it will give you a chance to interact with each other. Take a ball with you and be prepared to be astonished at how rapidly your little guy will figure out how to retrieve it. A chew toy will also be a enjoyable thing for you and it to play with. If you have an enclosed yard it will be even more enjoyable as it can run off lots of its energy. If you must always keep it on a leash, it would be great if you could find a dog park near by where you can let your pet Jack Russell go free. Maintaining the outdoor plan may be hard for a single person , which why the Jack Russell is a good family pet.

Some people feed three times a day. But with mine, they always have fresh food and water at all times.
